The Master's in Geoinformation: Applications and Management

Key training instrument on tools and skills for professionals and users of geospatial information

The Master's in Geoinformation: Applications and Management was born in 2015 from the agreement between University Autonomous of Barcelona (UAB) and Institute Cartographic and Geological of Catalonia (ICGC) in order to add assets, skills and experience in training in geoinformation, and joins the Master's program in Technologies of the Geographical Information (UAB) and the International Postgraduate in Cartographic Technologies (ICGC).

Its program has been designed to become a key training instrument and to provide new knowledge, tools and skills to professionals and users of geospatial information. Emphasis is placed on two different itineraries after a common module: the management of geolocated information, and the generation of applications and utilities in the form of new data, products and services, always from critical thinking.

This training integrates all disciplines, approaches and techniques to acquire, visualize, analyze and exploit geospatial data, what’s fundamental in areas as diverse as urban planning, city management, environmental, social, energy, administrative, legal, economic aspects or risk management, among others.

The 60 ECTS credits of the Master's in Geoinformation are carried out from September to April. Afterwards and for approximately just over 2 months, the students have a professional assignment in a company or collaborating institution, to carry out a project defined by them.

The Master consists of two specialization itineraries. One dedicated to the programming of geoinformation tools and the other to the management of projects in the areas of territorial sustainability.
