Presentation of the update of the geological risks guide, a reference document for urban planning
Last Thursday, April 10, the technical conference Present and future of geological risk management in urban planning, was held, in which we officially presented the updated version of the Geological Risk Identification Studies for urban planning (Catalan), now also available in printed format
The guide, which had already been published in digital format since 2021, has become a reference document for technicians and professionals involved in the drafting of urban planning in Catalonia, as established by the Regulations of the Urban Planning Law.
This technical resource includes the criteria for the identification, assessment and management of geological risks, as well as methodologies for determining the degree of danger and specific recommendations for each situation. Its application contributes to standardizing technical studies and facilitates decision-making in matters of urban planning and civil protection.
During the day, a round table was held to discuss the fundamental role of geological risk studies in territorial planning and the future challenges in managing these risks. Experts from different institutional and professional fields from the Barcelona Metropolitan Area, the Department of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Department of the Interior and Public Security of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the GeoRisk Observatory and the College of Architects of Catalonia participated.
