The EUREF 2024 Symposium arrives in the city of Barcelona

- The EUREF Symposium, which has been organized since 1990, promotes the exchange of knowledge, experiences and innovative ideas between experts in geodesy, cartography and related fields.
- On June 4, ICGC will give a tutorial on the contributions of GNSS to space weather monitoring, the high-precision Galileo service and the ionospheric flash.
The Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia (ICGC) will host the EUREF 2024 Symposium at its headquarters in Barcelona on June 5, 6 and 7. EUREF (European Reference Frame) is an organization dedicated to establishing and maintaining a geodetic reference frame in Europe. This task is essential for official geoinformation, as it provides the necessary foundations for activities such as cartography, navigation and other geospatial applications.
EUREF ensures that this framework is compatible with global systems, such as the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), ensuring coordination and precision at continental and global level.

Welcome to the EUREF Symposium 2024. Leica GNSS antenna.
This year, the Symposium will have three main topics. The first day will be dedicated to the activities of the EUREF Governing Board. On the other hand, to learn how different organizations are developing and applying EUREF frameworks, standards and practices, sessions for local and national activities will share practices, projects and initiatives related to the implementation and use of the geodetic reference system.
We will also delve into perspectives on future science and technologies with presentations on innovative scientific research projects that use or improve EUREF data or products and that can have a significant impact on the future of European geodesy.
In addition to the EUREF 2024 Symposium, a half-day tutorial on the contributions of GNSS to space weather monitoring, the high-precision Galileo service and ionospheric flare will be held on Tuesday, June 4, at the ICGC facilities.
The event has the support of Cyclomedia and the Official College of Geomatic Engineering and Topography and, especially, Leica Geosystems, which is part of Hexagon group. Its support is, again, the demonstration of its involvement with our sector and with the promotion of geodesy and topography. Its long history and quality products are part of its value (www.hxgnsmartnet.com).
This event is an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences and inspiration in the field of geodesy.
